Marine Serre Analysis.

 
  • Our task for our first brand analysis was to first do a personal wardrobe analysis identifying colors, textiles, brands, and silhouettes that we typically wear in order to find similarities between our group members. We next were tasked with choosing a brand that resembled our group's style and values similarities. Once chosen, a full brand analysis, digital analysis, and competitor analysis were carried out.

  • Regardless of our differences when it comes to our styles, we can agree that for us, comfortable and versatile garments are essential. When we dress, we all want to represent and feel like confident, powerful, and strong women. With a neutral color palette and a tomboy twist in our style, there is also an interest towards street wear in all of us that can be seen by the use of baggy pants, sneakers, hoodies or a mix in each outfit. This combination of styles to us is unique, cool and comfortable which is the exact vibe

  • The decision to choose Marine Serre originated after studying each of our wardrobe analyses. We realized that we all have a tomboy touch when it comes to the clothes that we buy and wear, while also agreeing that comfort is essential in each outfit. At the same time, we knew that we all wanted clothes that made us feel unique and powerful. When we pick our outfits we want to represent a woman that shows a new definition of femininity through the wearing of more neutral-toned clothes, and clothes that are oversized, possibly coming off to others as masculine. With this combination of clothing and style, we want to represent and feel powerful, strong, and confident. We began searching for a brand that encompassed all of these aspects in both its brand identity and its products. Marine Serre was the perfect fit as we believe the brand represents this idea while creating a new world in the fashion industry and a new way of defining femininity in her clothes. As owner and designer of the brand, Marine Serre wants the women that dress in her clothes to feel strong and ready for battle without having to give up the shape, color, and a subtle touch of femininity. Marine Serre quickly and clearly became the perfect brand for our group’s style, as her work embodies all aspects of all that we would like to represent.

Conclusion.

Marine Serre has invaded the fashion industry with her post-apocalyptic aesthetic. As sustainability becomes the norm it is essential that the brand keeps innovating on this point, and as the designer herself said: “My goal is to keep evolving, keep evolving with the world and not to fall asleep”. Her upcycled take to fashion has made for a new uniqueness in slowing fashion with completely distinctive designs coupled with similar silhouettes. Aside from this, Serre’s show-stopping, iconic crescent moon print has proven itself to be central to success in today’s Gen-Z and Millennial driven industry by overpowering the internet and celebrities’ closets and allowing the brand to keep growing and reaching new limits of admirers and consumers. Having analyzed Marine Serre social media presence and the designer multiple interviews, it is possible to state that the brand is expected to grow even more prominent in the future.
